The principles of Portuguese football are closely linked to CIF – Internacional Foot-Ball Club: the first footballs brought to Portugal, the first groups of practitioners, the first official rules of the sport, the first leagues and club associations resulted from direct intervention by this club. Today, the club with more than a century of existence, offers excellent conditions for the practice of various sports.
As in football, CIF is at the frontline in the commitment to renewable energies. Hence, the installation of a solar power plant was evident for the CIF.
In January 2020, the CIF kicked off with a 250 kWp photovoltaic plant to produce over 400 MWh/year. This corresponds to the electricity consumption of approximately 100 Portuguese families and represents a reduction of about 3,600 tons of CO2/year.
The photovoltaic plant was installed on the roof of their Lisbon facility. The energy produced will be entirely injected into the grid.
Benefits of the Project
- solar power with 250 kWp
- estimated production of 400 MWh/year
- reduction of about 3,600 tons of CO2/year
Provided services
The project was developed by SOLVasto and the installation was executed by RedeForte. The financing was provided by our investor partner Bright Sunday, which rented the facility for the first 15 years, allowing CIF to obtain the economic and ecological benefits without financial investment. At the end of this contract, CIF will remain with the property and will benefit from 100 % of the photovoltaic plant.
