Together we will give solar energy to the Social Village in Borba!
Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Borba, in the region of Alentejo in Portugal, wants to reduce its carbon footprint, so it plans three photovoltaic plants. The campaign to attract investors for the installation runs until April 5th and aims to reach about 86 thousand euros. In just 7 days, more than 43 thousand euros of investment have already been confirmed, around 49,3%. Any person or company can invest with a value starting from 20 euros.
Throughout the year there are 8 hours of sunshine per day in the region of Alentejo. Is there a better place to invest in solar energy?
It must be hard to find! Unfortunately, many highly sustainable and profitable projects are never realized due to limited access to the financial world. This is why GoParity, a Portuguese crowdfunding company, promotes campaigns to bring together investors nearby viable projects with a positive social and environmental impact.
The new financing project launched on the GoParity platform, aims to install three photovoltaic plants, in one of the largest buildings owned by the social institution Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Borba. A good opportunity for “green investors” to invest in this beautiful city, located in one of the sunniest regions in Portugal, where solar energy makes perfect sense.
The Portuguese crowdfunding platform GoParity is raising 86 thousand euros for the PV installation, which will grant investors an interest rate of 3.75% per year.
The fundraising campaign runs for 30 days in order to acquire about 86 thousand euros. The project will remunerate those who participate. Investors will receive an interest rate of 3.75% per year for five years, which will be increased by 0.25% for the first investors, who invest until March 11. Investors will be rewarded three months after the end of the campaign, through monthly payments.
Installation and maintenance will be the responsibility of SOLVasto PV services
The photovoltaic plant will be installed in the building destined for the old people’s home. SOLVasto will be in charge of the turnkey project and will be also entrusted with future monitoring and maintenance, ensuring maximum performance throughout its lifetime.
“Self-consumption is a profitable and reliable investment anywhere in Portugal. Furthermore, this project is in the Alentejo region, one of the areas with the highest solar radiation. “, points out the manager of SOLVasto, Nuno Torres. “We are very proud to participate in this project, which is attractive for investors and at the same time brings many social and environmental advantages”.
The three new plants will join an existing 70 kWp plant – which will be properly reconditioned and converted to allow the self-consumption of the produced energy. Thus, it is estimated that more than 286 MWh of green electricity are produced per year – enough to supply the consumption of about 70 homes. This means an average reduction of more than 50 tones CO2/year, over its 25-year lifetime. Given the high percentage of self-consumed energy (around 90%), it is estimated that the economic benefit will provide a return on investment in around 3.6 years.
